Violet R. ★★★★★

The way Barley helps Mrs. Green figure out what to do with her overgrown field kept my son guessing until the last page. He's five and the illustrations gave us plenty to talk about, especially the field slowly coming back to life. We've read it four nights straight now.

Ella K. ★★★★★

My niece asks for this one almost every night now, mostly because she loves watching that scraggly overgrown field turn into something useful. The message about not giving up on a patch of land is sweet without being preachy.

The way Barley helps Mrs. Green figure out what to do with that overgrown field kept my son glued to every page. We've read it four nights straight now, and he's started pointing at the illustrations to guess what happens next.
